An Open Letter to MSNBC.com

Although I make every penny of my income from Microsoft products as a programmer, I do not use IE as my default browser. After your last move and revamp of the site, you have chosen to keep many features IE-only for no good reason. I have looked at the code and there is no reason for it other than incompetence on the part of the developers or something less innocent on the part of the managers. I know better than to believe any excuses you might have because the features you give me an "unsupported browser" message for are NOT things that are hard, complex, or IE-specific.

If the developers worked for me, they would have been fired long ago, but since they only vaguely work for me, I gave them a month or so to fix things and they haven't. So now MSNBC.com is fired and removed from my "News" bookmark folder; no longer one of my twice-daily reads.

Feel free to contact me when the situation is corrected, I'm not wasting any more time waiting.

Shannon

don't forget what the 'MS' in msnbc stands for. i personally prefer cnn.com myself, less eye candy, more text centric, and IMO better organized and easier to find what i am looking for (though a bit slow at times)

just my 2...

I guess I don't really use the news sites as extensively as you, then. I simply glance at the headlines and then the Tech and Entertainment sections. MSNBC.com was nice enough to put one directly under the other in their menu, with pop-out navigation so I could get straight to a story from the front page. I didn't even need to scroll down like on the CNN.com site.
But lately,it is rare that either site will have a story I haven't already seen, so the quick headline glance is usually all either gets from me. Most of those stories, even, are usually syndicated from AP News.

I would suggest The Associated Press as well. Their site has almost no bells or whistles, except a ticker whichs runs the latest headlines. They seem to offer a distinctly none American view which is very refreshing. Also you can find copy on stories that the American press doesn't seem to care about.

You have no support for the Democrats in this country even though the vast majority of people now feel they have been taken for a ride by the Republicans. Your TV programing is also lacking support for the Democrats. You have plenty of Republican rhetorists still telling the same old tired lies over-and-over again but you do not offer any of the truth-telling Democratic shows that would be a reflection of the majority viewpoint, as shown by the polls. Why are you people always lagging behind? Looking at your viewership numbers you obviously have nothing to lose by, at least, giving a Democtatic show a try. I suggest David Gregory as the host and David Shuster(sp) as support and special reports. I think it would be a winner. BE BOLD AND DO SOMETHING!!!!!
