I'm leaving tomorrow to visit a friend in New Jersey to discuss his new company (and drink), it's been waaaay too long since I've been on a road trip. No cellphone, no email, this is going to be very Lewis and Clark-ish. heh.
I think my official reason for going will be “I wanted to see 'Garden State' in NJ”. I was considering driving to the ATL this weekend to see the Donnie Darko Director's Cut. I'm sure DD:DC is better than Garden State, but any excuse for a road trip is a good one. [ Read More...

Isn't it funny how some lies are bad and other lies are good, depending on whether you're the one telling them or not? According to Tim Bray, when Microsoft lies while comparing their product to a competitor, it is bad. However, he actively encourages you to lie about one of Microsoft's products, as compared to its competitors. Strange, huh?
I like it when people make it so easy to see what their biases are. It makes it much easier to know when to trust their opinion. Context is key. Read More...

I moved almost a month ago. Still not completely settled in, but getting there. It is the shortest move I've ever been involved in; I moved less than 100 yards away. Same zipcode, same street, even, barely a block away.
The new view is much better, though.

This blog is a year old today. w00t.
My first domain is 4 years old this month, unfortunately, it is currently down for repairs (and is my personal site so is not linked to this site). My very first site is a little over 5 years old, but it's nothing worth being proud of.
Geez, I feel old now.

The IEVIEW "View this page in IE"/"Open link target in IE" extension is my favorite addition to Firefox. so many sites are written too badly to be displayed in any browser other than IE (and so many others are take advantage of IE-only tags and functions), I couldn't browse without that extension. IE's shortcomings go beyond the rendering, though, so I have been using MyIE2 for a little over 2 years to overcome those problems [Opera and Netscape had tabbed browsing back then but the tabs were Read More...

I was going to wait to install SP2 for as long as possible because I would rather not install it at all. The “security features“ don't impress me at all because they aren't really missing to begin with. I use Firefox for my default browser and Google's toolbar supplies pop-up blocking for IE when I use it raw. I have been using MyIE2 (now Maxthon) for over 2 years now, so those “new“ IE features aren't very new to me. I have been using the firewall included with XP since day 0 so I don't buy Read More...

I bought my first DVD player in 1999. It was a refurbished $70 DVD-ROM I put into a Frankensteined PC that had a TV-out. Watching DVD, MPG, AVI, DiVX, Real, and even QT fullscreen on the TV in my living room seems natural to me and I probably would never have bought a stand-alone DVD player at all if the price wasn't currently less than a Saturday night bar tab.
I don't own a CD player other than ones in my computers, either. My last car had one and I was once given a broken boom box tha Read More...

I thought that they stopped giving GMail invites the day I signed up because I'm still waiting to score one. I've been trying the “refresh this page 1,000,000 times and you might get an invite” and other sites that are running gmail give-aways in order to score one for Lee but haven't had any luck. I finally managed to get one today thanks to Travis. After giving me that invite, he got a few more, so I guess the IPO didn't completely stop Google from giving out invites.
I wonder when I'll Read More...
