I have been suggesting BlogLines to most people who ask about RSS clients. Everyone who has taken that suggestion and then reported back to me has said it was a good suggestion. Last weekend, I finally signed up and am trying it myself. I uploaded my OPML and started what I thought was going to be a 24-48 hour test. I now think I will stick with BlogLines longer than that.
One of the cool things about Bloglines is the ability to save a post to a clip folder or to a blog they set you up with. That feature has allowed me to create my LinkBlog: Sirsha LinkBlog.
Although I may be the only person who ever uses that, I can use it from anywhere, any computer, nothing to install. That is enough of a value-add that I am sold.
The site is free but I have to wonder how long this will be true. RSS polling has caused some sites to experience some bandwidth pain as their readerships grow. Bloglines helps reduce the strain on those site but as BlogLines membership grows, they will experience that same bandwidth pain. Hopefully they'll find a way to keep it free.
