According to this post on the Trademark Blog, someone filed a trademark application in February for the word "Podcast". Although I know that the word has so much prior usage that no half-decent person would apply for such a thing or would ever get any near being awarded such a trademark, I have no confidence in our system's ability to know better than to award this.
Hopefully Dave and friends will not see this travesty become a reality. Is there anything that we cilivians can do to help?
